My passion is in the assessment and treatment of PTSD. My internship and postdoctoral fellowship focused on treating PTSD in a veteran population. I utilize evidence-based, gold-standard treatments such as Cognitive Processing Therapy and Prolonged Exposure to help you meet your goals.
Alcohol and substance use are often used to cope with painful memories or difficult situations. It can be a form of self-medication to try to treat other underlying symptoms. My goal is to help you get to the “why” so that you can start learning how to better manage what is lurking underneath. If your goal is not abstinence, that’s okay.
PTSD is often the result of interpersonal violence, including childhood sexual/physical abuse, domestic violence, and rape. I have worked with both men and women who are struggling with the aftermath of abuse, as well as survivors of domestic violence and military sexual trauma.

This form of self-medication can work in the short-term, but often has long-term negative consequences. My goal is to help you uncover the “why” so that you can begin to manage what is underneath in a more healthy way.
