About My Clients

A lot of my patients struggle with trying to “stay strong” or do everything on their own; feeling misunderstood or unable to have their needs met in relationships; or overwhelmed by unexpected life events and fear about what happens next. I firmly believe that you deserve to live your life to its fullest, and I am eager to help you make strides towards what you want most. A safe and open relationship with your therapist allows you to explore what you might keep hidden from others and yourself.

My Background and Approach

My theoretical orientation is integrative, which means that I draw upon a number of different theoretical perspectives, principles, and technique depending on what you bring into your treatment. I never use a one-size-fits-all protocol, and I tailor my treatment plan to your personality, needs, and the context of what you are struggling with. I strive to use flexibility and responsiveness in our work while staying grounded in research and sound theory. My patients often describe me as an attuned listener, compassionate, nonjudgmental, and calming. I utilize an integrative approach including principles from psychodynamic psychotherapy and a range of evidence-based treatments (such as CBT, ACT, DBT, and MI). Therapy with me involves the development of a trusting relationship to enhance awareness of the complexity, conflict, and feelings that lie beneath the surface in the service of more adeptly discovering the richness of your present, and the opportunities you have in the future.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Unfulfilled for years by what should have been my “dream jobs” in the corporate sector, I came to an irreversibly important realization. What I care about, what gets me out of bed in the morning, what drives me is helping people. I come alive when I can connect, understand, and help people in my life find meaning and movement in their lives. That’s one of my core values: to help people. This is what led me to become a clinical psychologist. I believe individual psychotherapy is a relationship and process that can lead to deep, meaningful, and lasting change in the ways we think, feel, and behave. My work is hard; there are always ups and downs and I hold a lot of pain and suffering for the people I work with. I also get to be a part of so much shared joy, laughter, and invigoration in my patients’s lives. I can’t imagine more fulfilling, interesting, and meaningful work, and I would love the chance to meet you.
