About My Clients
My clients are adults who are carrying something heavy. Maybe you lost someone you love, or you are grieving a pet, a pregnancy, or a relationship with a family member who is still alive. Maybe an old trauma keeps pulling you back no matter how much you have talked it through. You look fine on the outside and feel untethered underneath. You are tired of coping and you want to feel steady again. If any of that sounds like you, you are in the right place.
My Background and Approach
I am Sara Wilper, LCSW, and I have spent more than 25 years helping adults through grief and trauma. I am a certified grief educator, trained directly by David Kessler, one of the most respected voices in grief work. That training shapes how I sit with loss. I will not rush you, minimize what happened, or hand you a tidy set of stages and call it a plan. For trauma, I use EMDR. Talk therapy helps you understand why you feel the way you do, but for many people there is a gap between understanding it and feeling different. EMDR was built to close that gap. It helps your brain and body register that the danger has passed, so the past stops running the present. I also draw on CPT, DBT and mindfulness, and I shape the work around you. Everything is online, so you can heal from wherever you feel safest. My clients often gain new insight within the first month. When you are ready, reach out for a free 15 minute call.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe grief is love with nowhere to go, and that every loss deserves to be witnessed, even the ones the world tends to wave off. Pet loss, pregnancy loss, estrangement, the slow fade of a friendship. If it hurt you, it counts. I believe therapy should be a place where you can be fully yourself. My practice is affirming and welcoming to LGBTQ+ clients, and to anyone who has ever felt like their pain was too much or not enough for other people. I also believe healing does not mean going back to who you were before. It means building a life that can hold what happened and still feel like yours. That is the work I care about, and it is a privilege to do it alongside you.
