About My Clients

Struggling with obsessions/compulsions, rumination, control issues, social anxiety, PTSD/trauma or coping behaviors that cause shame? You're in the right place. Common problems that often co-exist with the above: rigid thinking, workaholism, perfectionism, relationship strain, suppressed anger, shame with sex interests, all-or-nothing relationship to food & substances, chronic pain & insomnia. I also specialize in working with folx in the LGBTQ+ community.

My Background and Approach

I am a PhD-level psychologist, adjunct professor & Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction teacher with deep expertise in CBT, DBT & ACT including Prolonged Exposure/Cognitive Processing for Trauma, Exposure Response Prevention, and DBT for Emotion Regulation. Folks I see often have "too much of a good thing," meaning that high intelligence, analytical thinking, perfectionism, emotional awareness, & exceedingly high self-standards are superpowers. At the same time, each of these strengths can cause suffering when leaned upon too heavily, especially during times of stress. In therapy, we'll hone these superpowers & reduce the toll on your wellbeing.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Some Beliefs: There's more right with you than wrong with you. Therapists don't "fix" clients - clients help themselves heal. Discrimination impacts mental health & wellbeing tremendously. All "unhelpful" behaviors (including mental patterns) are or were adaptive at one point & make sense.
