About My Clients

Much of my work is is around trauma and adverse experiences. You don’t need a diagnosis of PTSD in order to be impacted by your past experiences. We have all been given messages throughout our lives that lead to a distorted view of ourselves and our place in the world. When we experienced events and feelings early in life, we had only a child’s ability to understand them. The results stay with us until we address them.

My Background and Approach

Developing trust and connection in the therapeutic relationship is essential for any modality. Therapy looks different for everyone. I take a client-centered approach, always focusing on client goals and comfort with the process. You are always the one in control. I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), mindfulness practices, motivational interviewing, Seeking Safety, and I utilize elements of CBT and DBT skills, as well as other evidence-based approaches. My training and experience as a social worker has taught me to take a “person in environment” approach, keeping in mind that our wellbeing is greatly impacted by our circumstances, environment, health, financial wellbeing, and social connections.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am guided in my work by my strong belief in the inherent and immeasurable value of people. I believe that everyone is worth being heard, taking up space, and learning for themselves what it means to live a full life. I also believe that living a full life looks different for everyone and that everyone should decide for themselves what this means in alignment with their own values. In therapy, this looks like working alongside you toward your goals at your pace. This looks like believing in your expertise, that you know exactly what it means to be you. While everyone’s journey looks very different, I believe that everyone is deserving of healing and of giving themselves space to grow and thrive. I believe that therapy has something to offer in this process and that you are worth the chance to see what your life could look like.
