About My Clients
I primarily work with couples and adult individuals, utilizing a relational, multicultural, and affirming lens. I believe in the science of attachment and the power of relationships to foster healing and growth. When we're in the presence of a safe and connected other, we gain the confidence to be our authentic selves and start believing that we are a person worthy of love and acceptance. I look forward to being on this journey with you.
My Background and Approach
My therapeutic approach is warm, compassionate, and nonjudgmental. At the core, humans are relational beings; the desire for safety and connection is innate. With this framework in mind, I utilize a strengths-based, trauma-informed, egalitarian approach to aid clients in moving toward emotional regulation and a positive view of self and others. I wholeheartedly believe that each person has a unique story to share; I aim to provide a safe space for clients to do so. I utilize a bottom-up approach to therapy. I believe in addressing the source of an issue and using trauma-informed techniques for shifting patterns that your brain and body have become stuck in over time. I integrate concepts and interventions from Attachment Theory, Emotionally-Focused Therapy, Somatic Experiencing, Interpersonal Neurobiology while taking a Person- or Client-Centered stance. I believe you already have the strength within you to heal; I'm simply here to guide you in uncovering that strength.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that all humans deserve fundamental rights and respect, regardless of how they identify. As a Pakistani American Muslim, I have had experience working with clients whose lived experiences are drastically different from mine. Utilizing an attitude of curiosity and a willingness to learn and challenge my biases, I have had the privilege of building beautiful relationships with clients. I also believe in full authenticity and transparency from my end. I encourage clients to be active participants in their mental health care and challenge and question me when necessary. I am a human being, which means I will make mistakes. My goal is to create a safe space for you to feel confident in your own skin without fear of judgment.
