About My Clients
My goal in therapy is to provide quality therapeutic services to all clients. I specialize in couples, marriage& family counseling, emphasizing adolescent psychology. The therapeutic approach includes person-centered therapy that creates a non-judgmental and emotionally nurturing environment. My focus is providing mental health services to underserved communities that may not consider counseling a viable option when managing cognitive difficulties.
My Background and Approach
Obtaining a MA in Community Mental Health from Oakland University helps to complete a lifelong journey of helping to provide counseling services to underserved communities. The privilege of counseling communities similar to the one I grew up in on the west side of Detroit allows me to offer options that were limited for me growing up. My therapeutic approach includes person-centered therapy that creates a non-judgmental and emotionally nurturing environment. I have trained in but not limited to, treating anxiety, depression, cognitive distortions, interpersonal communication, conflict resolution, emotional regulation, emotional expression, and rebuilding positive communication patterns. I have techniques that aid with focus, organization, and positive self-image.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that client is the expert in their treatment, and I want to take an egalitarian position while working with clients to reach the healed self. Everyone's process is unique, and I strive to provide a safe, nurturing, and non-judgmental environment to grow.
