About My Clients
I work with people struggling with their sexual health, relationships, anxiety, depression, and trauma. Oftentimes, individuals and couples may not know where to start when seeking help. My approach to treatment is collaborative, supportive, and strength-based, to promote the autonomy and skills to be your best self. I strive to create a warm, accepting environment where you can engage in genuine self-reflection and exploration to create the richness and meaning you desire in your life.
My Background and Approach
I completed my Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University and my B.A. in psychology with a minor in biology from Yeshiva University. My pre-doctoral internship was at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center and I continued there to complete a two year post-doctoral fellowship in the assessment and treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder and Gulf War Multisymptom Illness. Following my graduate training, I completed a certificate in Sex Therapy from The Buehler Institute and received my certification in sex therapy by the American Association for Sex Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT). I also received a certificate in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and Integrative Behavioral Couples Therapy. My general treatment approach focused on cognitive-behavioral and acceptance based approaches.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
You embody many different roles in your life. Perhaps you are a romantic partner, employee, friend, child, parent, or member of your religious community, the list goes on and on. I believe that all people are guided by a particular set of values with regard to how they want to live their lives in these many roles. At times, we may lose sight of these values, or in our struggle with the things that cause us the most pain, we may make choices that pull us away from these values. One of my primary goals in accompanying you in your journey through your pain is to help reconnect you with the values that matter most to you to allow you to live the life you want. Most people, when they engage in therapy, have no intention of being in therapy forever. Most want the skills and insight they need to live their lives the way they really want to. I seek to identify the internal strengths you already possess, while working on building practical skills, to help you move towards your life you want.
