About My Clients
By the time most people reach out, they've been struggling with something on their own for a long time. Perhaps part of you is still stuck in something painful that happened years ago. Perhaps it's anxiety or depression that won't lift, or the same unhealthy patterns playing out in your relationships. Maybe you're going through a big transition and trying to figure out what it means for you. Whatever it is, you don't have to be in it alone.
My Background and Approach
Sam has been in Whitefish since 2008. He spent more than ten years working in outdoor leadership and residential therapeutic settings before earning his MSW from the University of Montana in 2018. Since then he has worked with adolescents and adults in inpatient, residential, and outpatient settings. Sam draws on psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral approaches. Psychodynamic therapy focuses on patterns in relationships and sense of self, often rooted in earlier experiences. CBT focuses on the connections between thoughts, feelings, and behavior. For trauma and PTSD, Sam offers Cognitive Processing Therapy, a structured, evidence-based treatment developed within the VA. He is also trained to provide psychological evaluations for assisted reproduction.
