About My Clients
The individuals I work with tend to be young women ages 16-45 who are looking to work through challenges in their relationships. Many of my clients have experienced adverse relational experiences such as sexual abuse or assault, emotional abuse, betrayal or infidelity, unmet childhood needs or family dysfunction, or discrimination or systemic oppression.
My Background and Approach
I have a Master's degree in Counseling and Art Therapy and I work from an integrative, relational approach to therapy, which means I prioritize a strong therapeutic relationship and will pull from various approaches that fit your unique needs and preferences. It's my responsibility as the therapist to make sure that our relationship feels empathic, nonjudgmental, open, and transparent. I will check in regularly to see if you feel like you are getting what you want out of therapy, and if not, we will change approaches. I am trained in modalities like EMDR, emotion-focused therapy, trauma-focused cognitive processing, and Trauma Art Narrative Therapy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I value being transparent with my clients about who I am as a person both inside and outside of the therapy room. Within the field, I believe deeply in working towards de-pathologizing mental health - which means that I will see you for who you are as a whole person, not as a diagnosis or the "symptoms" you experience. I believe that our environment, identities, and position in the world have the largest impact on our mental wellness, and that I have an ethical responsibility as a therapist to be advocating for a more just society. Outside of being a therapist, I engage in community organizing in Philadelphia.
