About My Clients

I specialize in supporting very young children (ages 0-7) and their caregivers as they struggle to make meaning out of past trauma, better understand each other, and find enjoyment in one another. My clients are parents and caregivers who love their children deeply but are at a loss to help them make sense of scary things in a developmentally appropriate way. They are mothers experiencing depression or anxiety who see their relationship with their child negatively impacted by their own symptoms.

My Background and Approach

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, with a Masters in Social Work from Smith College and a Bachelors in Public Policy from Duke University. I have a passion for social justice and supporting young children and families. I believe that -- above all else -- our primary relationships have the potential to buoy us in an uncertain world and through scary experiences. I use Child-Parent Psychotherapy to support early caregiving relationships because it does not matter if your child plays well with me in a therapy room; you are your child's most important person and I want to support you in optimizing your parental capacities and strengthening your relationship. In addition to CPP, I am trained in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (to help parents learn to understand and respond to challenging behavior), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and as a facilitator for Circle of Security Parenting groups. I value reflective practice and ongoing supervision.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that infants, toddlers, and young children do not exist in a vacuum. They exist within the context of their primary caregiving relationships, and I feel passionate about using my training and expertise in infant, early childhood and maternal mental health to help strengthen those relationships. I believe in the value of community -- especially when we are first starting out on this parenting journey -- and I believe that all parents and caregivers are doing the best they can to do right by their children.

I have experience with the following
  • Agnosticism
