About My Clients
I am passionate about working with clients who are feeling stuck, feeling lost, and who feel trapped in or by the systems that they are a part of. When I think of systems, I think of the relationships we have; with ourselves, with our partners, our family, our jobs, our hobbies and interests, societal norms, and so on.
My Background and Approach
I firmly believe that clients are the experts of their own lives, including their needs, values, and desires. I view the therapeutic relationship as a relationship amongst equals, and I consider it an honor to help guide clients towards reaching their most authentic and liberated selves. For this reason, I tend to gravitate towards Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), an approach that places emphasis on embracing life’s inevitable challenges and living a life guided towards one’s values and beliefs. When using this approach, I would assist you in holding space for difficult thoughts and feelings that may arise, discovering goals that are in line with the direction that you want your life to go in, and cultivating the energy to follow through with them.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a white, pansexual, neurodivergent, polyamorous, and gender fluid. As a therapist, I remain true to myself in the sense that I am direct, warm, honest, compassionate, and expressive with my reactions. I tend to be casual in my approach, so if something is funny, I will laugh with you, and if something is sad or distressing, I will share those feelings with you as well. While it is important to me that I remain as objective as possible, I firmly believe that the therapist themself serves as a tool that contributes to your therapeutic process. For that reason, I believe our connection must be fostered collaboratively and authentically.
