About My Clients
I have a passion for serving others and find fulfillment in helping people and communities realize their full potential. I am committed to providing culturally responsive services, and promoting social justice through my counseling practice. I have professional experience counseling adolescents, young adults, adults, and elderly folks, and couples.
My Background and Approach
As a professional counselor, I employ humanistic, cognitive, and behavioral techniques to understand my client’s experience of the world, and work collaboratively to develop a plan to help them meet their goals. I believe my clients are the experts on their own experiences, and I strive to create a therapeutic space where my clients can safely explore their pasts while learning skills to stay grounded in their present. I am flexible and implement a variety of interventions depending on a client’s unique needs. I am a certified Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Advocate, and I am trained in EMDR Trauma Processing Therapy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in the right of all human beings to a dignified life. My practice is informed by the ways systemic injustice effects individual's mental health, and as a mental health professional I strive to end systemic injustice with my voice and my vote. I apply a feminist framework to my therapy practice, which to me means that my practice is informed by the reality of sexism and gender inequity and gender expectations. I believe mental health services should be available and accessible to individuals of all races, sexual orientations, abilities, and gender identities.
