I enjoy using EMDR to help clients resolve traumas stuck in the body.
I have my Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Social Work and most of my experience has been with clients struggling with childhood and recent trauma, anxiety, depression, and substance abuse.
In the past society has adopted narratives such as "get over it" and "it wasn't that bad, other people have seen worse" which invalidates the harmful effects of abuse. I believe that even "small" occurrences can impact us, especially when these occurrences have been chronic throughout the lifespan. Healing from abuse requires one to recognize, validate, and reprocess one's traumas.
Attachment wounds form in the first year of life and can be impacted throughout the lifespan. These wounds then go on to affect relationships we have in all areas of life. Do you have issues with people of authority or are triggered by certain types of people? It may be worth looking into becoming aware of and healing your attachment style.
Body image issues have been on the rise and its not hard to see why. Capitalism makes money off our insecurities and has been working hard for decades making sure we hate ourselves enough to buy their products. If you want to make changes regarding your relationship with your body I'd like to help.
