About My Clients
If you work in healthcare and need to debrief, I am here for you. Whether it's to vent about a tough frequent flyer, or to process a traumatic code, you can be real here. If you're burned out and struggling to remember why you entered healthcare, let's talk. If you are balancing life with a new medical diagnosis, I am here for you. Maybe it is something that will change the trajectory of your life, maybe you aren't sure how to disclose it to others, let's talk about it.
My Background and Approach
I have my master's in social work (MSW) and am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW). I have extensive experience in healthcare, and my "day job" is medical social work in a hospital, which I have done for 7 years. I worked as a bachelor's level social worker in various nursing homes around the twin cities for about 6 years before that, and I connect and work well with other healthcare workers. I am a firm believer that front line pandemic workers were never given the opportunity they were owed to greive their job and life as they know it, and I would love to give you that space and time. I also know that we all exhibit burnout differently, so let's get to the bottom of it for you. Whether that's engaging in substance use or misuse, I work from a harm reduction lens. Unless you are in a crisis, I am an advocate that change only happens when you are fully ready, and that is not something I can be for you.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in harm reduction, and that people only change when they are truly ready. I cannot force anyone to want to change either, but I do believe that when people see clearly what needs to happen to get to where/what they want, they will start the change process naturally. I am an LGBTQ+ community ally, and will stand firmly on the ground that people of all protected classes are created equal, although we are not given equal footing to start. I would love to help you navigate the world in a way that feels right to you, and to help you find your village. I also think that we cannot be found unless we are first lost. Being "lost" in your life, in my opinion, is the first step to learning about who you really are, and as you endeavor through the maze, if you're anything like me, I'll bet you will see many loved and forgotten pieces of your younger self, let's nurture those. I'll bet you'll also see parts that scare you, let's process them.
