About My Clients
Therapy with me might be helpful if: -You are one inconvenience away from losing your shit. -You thought you had your life all planned out, but now you're not sure who even made the plan. -You continuously feel that something within you is amiss, and you exhaust yourself trying to "fix" it. -Your anxiety is increasing, and you want to understand why. -You're worn out after years of prioritizing the needs of others over your own. -You've experienced a significant loss or a major life shift
My Background and Approach
I show up to sessions as my authentic self because you deserve to know a who you are spending time with. My clients describe me as warm, funny, and direct when needed. I encourage my clients to get comfortable. You can move around, take off your shoes, and have a snack, if that is what is most helpful to you. I have blankets, pillows, and my office lights can be adjusted to suite your needs. My therapeutic style is client-centered (all about you) and strengths-based (leaning into what comes naturally for you). I often using mindfulness, narrative therapy (your story is important), ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy), and CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) techniques in my practice. I know how hard life can be and adapting to changes can be overwhelming. I will not be another voice telling you how to be or how to live. I am here to support you in reclaiming your power and defining your life for yourself. I'm not here to fix you because you are not broken.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I tend to have big, grand plans for my days off, but I end up watching TV with my dogs or knitting because my brain feels overloaded. I used to feel really guilty about that, but not anymore, because it's okay to rest when you need to. My daily survival is dependent on lists and reminders. While I don't always have my act together, I've learned to get back on track. In the past, I felt that others knew something I didn't. I would change to be more like them so they might see how hard I was working and let me in on their little secret. It was EXHAUSTING! In therapy, I discovered that I don't need to perform to be loved and can be my true self. I am a neurodivergent therapist and I love working with all neurotypes. I am fully accepting of self-diagnosed neurodiversity.
