About My Clients
In a time where people seem more connected than ever, it has become easier than ever to feel isolated and alone. Maybe your life fluctutates somewhere between uncomfortable and intolerable, and learning how to make your way through it feels as though it is an impossible undertaking. I enjoy working together with clients to make sense of themselves in an overwhelming world, helping you work on your hard thoughts and developing the tools to make the life that you want for yourself.
My Background and Approach
I am an Licensed Clinical Social Worker who is experienced in treating anxiety, depression, trauma, and isolation. I utilize a mix of different modalities in a supportive, client-centered approach. Primarily, these include ACT and EMDR, but I also use CBT and DBT as well. I am trained in TF-CBT and ART as well. Rather than expecting you to know a bunch of technical acronyms, I want potential clients to understand that I use a lot of different tools to find an approach that works best for you and what you're bringing to session. I am also a doctoral candidate at the University of Louisville with research interests in online radicalization and incels. My current research is in understanding what's effective and what's not in a specific, treatment-resistent population.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in the dignity and worthiness of all people. I don't believe we live in a society where people are always valued from a number of differnet angles, identities, and experiences. I personally find joy in working with people who feel like they have been discarded or left behind, and helping them realize the value they have, both in themselves and to the people around them. I don't believe that any of us are perfect, but I think that we can continually work towards being the sort of person we all want to be.
