About My Clients
I work with a wide range of individuals from early teens to adults. I work with you to help you reach your goals, to reduce suffering, and to improve the quality of your life. Although I specialize in working with teens, I also work with parents around parenting issues, helping to navigate this very challenging and exciting time of development. Adults often begin therapy because they feel stuck in a particular area of life, are overwhelmed, or are struggling with depression or anxiety.
My Background and Approach
I use a wide variety of approaches in my work where I find an approach that matches your needs and goals. Together, we work collaboratively and relationally, in a warm and supportive environment to understand the root of your suffering as well as to develop coping skills. My training is extensive and varied. I have psychodynamic/psychoanalytic training as well as training in family therapy, addiction, trauma, self-harm, and adolescent therapy. I also have worked in Berkeley and Albany schools, facilitated a mental health program for many years, trained and supervised interns, and led trauma and substance abuse groups.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe: that change and growth are possible at any stage of life, that everyone is unique and has arrived at the point in their lives to seek therapy due to a combination and interaction of factors, that therapy is most effective when there is a good fit between you and your therapist, that we are all complicated and complex and that there are no easy answers or quick fixes, that therapy requires dedication and hard work from both you and your therapist, that healing and growth comes from the therapeutic relationship, that finding the right therapist for you is a very important decision.
