About My Clients
My name is Dr. Sakima Gonzalez, and I am a bilingual clinical social worker specializing in trauma and anxiety. Are you feeling sad, nervous, misunderstood, numb, or empty? Having a difficult time recovering from a break up or divorce? Do you fear that you will not be able to connect with a therapist? I'm here to help you sort out your emotions and find ways to manage your day to day while reaching towards true healing.
My Background and Approach
When you meet with me, you will find a relaxed, compassionate, and welcoming style of therapy to support you in your journey towards feeling better. During sessions, we will draw from various evidence based theoretical approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction to help you build resilience and find meaningful pathways of healing. I am also familiar with the various cultural factors that can influence the therapeutic process and I am committed to providing culturally responsive care that meet the unique needs of the Latinx community. I earned my Doctor of Social Work from Rutgers University, my Master of Social Work from Adelphi University, and my Bachelor of Psychology from The City College of New York. You do not need to do this alone, I'm here to help.
