About My Clients
Have you experienced a profound change in your life or lost a loved one? Has it been hard to not think about your loss? Have you had a hard time feeling motivated to do things that previously made you happy? Have you heard or are you anticipating to hear some difficult news about your health? Are you feeling overwhelmed adjusting to the new needs of your body? Ruminating about the past, feeling regretful, or overwhelmed by your new caretaking responsibilities? I can help find relief.
My Background and Approach
I value wellness and believe everyone deserves joy and peace. My goal to advance my education to a doctorate degree was to deepen my understanding of what brings wellness to others. As difficult as some of my life experiences have been they motivated me in specializing in the needs of people in that stage of life. I have specialized training in play therapy to help kiddos manage their emotions, perinatal care to support the transformational change that happens once someone decides to become a parent, and senior counseling to help make meaning of life and accept challenges of aging. The most prized moments of my life are those in which I experience a deep and meaningful connection to another person. I find that it is through this deep understanding and connection that change happens and wellness follows.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that you have within you everything you need to experience joy and peace. I also know that at times different aspects of your life such as your culture, your biology, the systems you live within, how you make meaning of the world, or a combination of these factors limit your access to your inner joy. I facilitate a non-judgmental space so that we can explore different aspects of your life, resolve inner conflicts, and identify the obstacles to your inner joy. Once you become aware of these obstacles, you can either change your circumstances or your relationship to your circumstance. Additionally, when appropriate, I offer some individuals new coping skills, help them practice those skills and offer them more direct interventions to meet the challenges of their lives.
