Psychodynamic therapy helps us understand how our life experiences impact our current behavior and relationships. Often we are unaware of how early experiences have contributed to our sense of self or relationship patterns.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) focuses on understanding how our thoughts, behaviors, and mood are all impacted by one another. CBT provides a framework and techniques to address distorted thoughts and distressing behaviors.
Somatic therapy is oriented in the body and felt experience. Somatic work helps us understand how emotions and experiences are translated in the body. Somatically-oriented techniques can help strengthen the mind-body connection and bring awareness to our body’s reactions to emotion.
Adjustment disorders include a broad category of responses to distressing life events or changes. Sometimes we have difficulty adapting to or coping with life stressors, which can lead to symptoms of depression and anxiety.
Getting through adolescence can be tough! This is why I have dedicated myself to helping teens navigate through the struggles of high school, social pressures, family dynamics, relationship changes, and tumultuous life transitions. Adolescence is a pivotal time for developing one’s personal identity and laying the foundations of self-esteem. I help teens better understand their emotions, behaviors, and develop stronger skills for self-expression, regulating emotion, and communication.
Anxiety can manifest in many different ways including worrying, racing thoughts (feeling like your mind will not slow down), trouble falling asleep, difficulty concentrating, irritability and relationship conflict, feeling disconnected or distracted, obsessing about specific things or ruminating on distressing thoughts, panic attacks, and intense fears. Anxiety can even lead to somatic symptoms like racing heart or tightness in your chest, tension, headaches, nausea, and physical pain.
