About My Clients
We each have experiences from early in our life that have left us wounded. As adults, we tend to recreate these wounds to feel more in control and hope for a better outcome. If you notice you are dating the same type of person or always end up in the same roles in your friendships or family systems, it might be time to book a therapy appointment. In my work with clients, we start to map out these unconscious cycles, identify how to enact change and combat any obstacles that may arise.
My Background and Approach
I received my Master's in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling and specialized in Marriage and Family therapy. I find that this background helps me approach the individual from a systemic perspective. Whether you are anxious, or experiencing trauma, or grief, these symptoms don't just present for you as an individual; They show up in your relationships too. My approach to therapy is person-centered. I am trained in CBT, exposure therapy, and trauma-informed care, but I prefer to tailor each modality and intervention to each person because there is no "one size fits all" in mental health.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I think there should be less gatekeeping in the mental health field. I prefer person centered therapy and even named my company based on this belief. I think that a lot of times, traditional therapy is very rigid in that it usually follows a step by step process. I have't found that to work. What I have found is that if we can work together to apply techniques and interventions that make the most sense to who you are and how your brain works, the changes you make are that much easier to sustain. I also think that this helps me serve a plethora of different populations. I believe my approach is uniquely positioned to help those who are neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+.
