About My Clients
I identify as Afro Latina. I am bilingual in Spanish and English. My parents were immigrants to this country. My cultural background and upbringing has influenced me to get into this field, with so much stigma regarding mental health in my community. As a veteran, I saw my fellow veterans deal with coping with trauma, which was another reason I decided to pursue this career. I have worked as a care manager, I advocate and assist clients with needs such as: severe mental health and substance use.
My Background and Approach
Through my own background, I am able to work with those dealing with anxiety, depression, mood disorders, trauma, stress, relationship and family issues. I have also worked with clients from the LGBTQ+ community, racial issues, and veterans. I understand the traumas and stressors that can affect daily life and mental health. My treatment approaches include psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), humanistic, and holistic. I am continuously learning other methods of treatment and open to working with all individuals since my counseling experience is still evolving. I understand that treatment needs to be unique for everyone.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone deserves to live the life they want to live. I consider myself an ally of the LGBTQ+ community. I have dealt with my own racial issues in my personal life, and I would like to assist those that have trouble dealing with them. I have worked as a care manager for four years, and I have seen how every day life may affect someone’s physical and mental health. It can even lead to suicidal thoughts, which is understandable. Daily life and today’s society has only gotten tougher. I would like to be there for those facing these issues and hope to give them find that inner peace that they are searching for.
