About My Clients

I have the passion and experience working with BIPOC, Transgender and Nonbinary, and Neurodivergent teens and adults. A large focus of my work is decreasing the inequity of access to mental health care amongst people with experiences of homelessness. Presenting problems I have experience in guiding people through are difficulties related to trauma, mood disorders, and self esteem. I also enjoy working with LGBTQ+ couples, polyamorous relationships, as well as friend groups and chosen families.

My Background and Approach

There is great wisdom to learn from our emotions, and they serve to guide us. The issues don't lie with the emotions, but rather when we allow them to rule our live, when we don't allow ourselves to feel them, or when we internalize them to the point of impacting our self worth. My approach to therapy utilizes experiential therapy techniques that go deep into processing and feeling emotions, and digs beyond the surface level of the issues in your life to addressing the problem at its root. Therapy is not only processing what is difficult, but elevating what is going well. There may be some tears shed, but there will also be plenty of laughter, and both are vital in the process of healing. I believe in a collaborative approach to therapy that prioritizes your goals for healing and growth. Authenticity is key to raising self esteem and improving harmony in your relationships, and a large focus of my approach is guiding you through the process of embracing your true and genuine self.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

On my path to becoming a therapist, it was glaringly obvious how difficult it was to help someone heal in environments meant to keep them sick. Many people may feel anxious or depressed when dealing with systemic societal problems, such as racism, queerphobia, ableism, and other forms of oppression that seek to keep you subjugated. It will be hard to heal from past traumas when your financial situation leaves it hard to meet your most basic needs or when our individualistic society leaves you feeling socially isolated. All of these societal issues can have a profound impact on your mental health that therapy alone cannot speak. This is why in addition to being a therapist, I spend a good amount of my time as a community organizer. Through my community organizing, I engage in mutual aid to help people facing food insecurity meet their nutritional needs, I focus on building connectedness and belonging within our community, and I engage in advocacy work and direct action.
