About My Clients
Hello and welcome. I work with individual adult clients who are motivated to make changes to feel better. We humans can become stuck in patterns of living that are not serving us anymore. Our work together will identify these patterns and uncover ways to be more fully alive, more in touch with your deeper values and more aligned with your goals. We will work together to gain insight and change behaviors where you think necessary. --Please check in with me to see if I have space for a new client.
My Background and Approach
I have a background in my own mindfulness and self-compassion work and I bring these elements into our work together. I have a lot of knowledge about how people thrive and will share my experience with you. I also believe that you have the wisdom about what's right for you. You will always be in charge of how you want to proceed. I work effectively with clients on relationship difficulties, work stress, life out of balance, depression, anxiety, grief, life transitions, inability to enjoy one's life even when things seem good. Through nonjudgmental listening, empathy and discernment, I help you figure out your own answers to the questions. I also help you develop better coping skills for the challenges you face.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My belief is that humans cause a lot of additional suffering by the thoughts that we think, and by how we respond to external/internal events. Sometimes it isn't just the events or stressors alone that cause us pain, it is what our thoughts are telling us about the situation and ourselves (i.e. "this means I'm a failure"). We all experience a range of emotions, challenges, joys and difficulties, this is the human condition. But I believe we can make changes in our thinking and behavior that increase our contentment, our sense of living a full and rich life, even when we have problems--as we all do. I am passionate about justice and equality for all. As a white person with many privileges, I strive to be competent working with people of different cultures, races, sexuality, gender identification, size, and economic status.
