Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate in Seattle, WA

About My Clients

I work with kids 10+ and adults who are struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, adjustment difficulties, and difficulties with their relationships. I am interested in helping people build the emotional muscles to live more freely, even when going through life's traumas, big and small. I am dedicated to creating a safe, empathetic, and collaborative space where you can explore your inner world and develop deeper self-understanding. I also help parents and couples build new skills.

My Background and Approach

I work with tweens, teens and adults who are struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, adjustment difficulties, and difficulties with their relationships. I am interested in helping people build the emotional muscles to live more freely, even when going through life's traumas, big and small. While big feelings can feel scary, they are key to living a vibrant life. I am dedicated to creating a safe, empathetic, and collaborative space where you can explore your inner world and develop deeper self-understanding. I also bring in my experiences as a teacher and trainer to help parents and couples build new relational skills. I bring both curiosity and empathy to the huge task of understanding people - their fears, traumas, feelings and interests. By deep listening and observation, I help clients get "unstuck" from rigid ways of seeing themselves. People find me authentic and relatable, and I like including laughter in therapy when appropriate. Perhaps you've been told you're "too much"

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am a white, cisgender woman living in a larger body. I have 2 masters degrees: the first, in early childhood special education (2005), and the second, in counseling psychology (2024). I am an LGBTQ+ ally, align with body positivity/Health at Every Size, and work to interrogate my own unconscious biases around race, gender, sexuality and class. Before I went back to school for counseling, I was a certified special education teacher. I primarily worked with elementary-aged students with moderate to severe disabilities. I also coached various youth sports. I also ran my school district's Special Olympics program. After becoming a parent, I started to understand more about the importance of attachment and responsive parenting. I am excited to use both my understanding of child development and my training in psychotherapy to help people live more fully. I have personally experienced several traumatic losses, and have deep empathy for people who are struggling with recent loss.
