My first psychology class in high school (in the Detroit area where I am from) had me hooked on how the mind works. I made my way west to attend undergraduate school at Central Michigan University in pursuit of learning about psychology and families. Following my undergrad time at Central, I worked with children with autism for a few years and then attended Western Michigan University to focus on counseling and family and marriage therapy. Central and then Western?! Yeah, I know about the HUGE rivalry between the universities and you’ll have to ask me what side I'm on! Although I miss the major sports teams of Detroit – even when they struggle, (hey, we ALL do at some point) – I am LOVING West Michigan.
