I am a systems psychologist- meaning we will explore you within the systems of your life currently, past and future, and across your families generations. I recognize that shame is a huge factor in people’s distress. It is a powerful emotion. It is often rooted in systems of shame over generations. It is important to understand where shame arises in your life (many people do not recognize this emotion when it hits) and how shame shows up to make you feel less than and/or perpetuate itself.

Similar to my work with CBT I am trained and practiced academically and as a clinician to work and develop individual treatments for children, teens and adults. I work integratively with clients to utilitize CBT and/or ACT in whole or in part as symptoms and readiness present and as clients express need/interest. We work together through the layers of your life across your lifetime, your parents (and grandparents) lifetimes to provide both skills and meaning to why you feel the way you feel.

I have extensive experience (20+ years) working with children, adults and families in screening, testing and treating ADHD. While I no longer provide psychoeducational testing services, my history of engaging in these developmental assessments of ADHD and other developmental disabilities to children and adults help informs how quickly I am able to “see” symptoms, plan therapy according to your/your child’s individual needs, and make appropriate treatment recommendations.

I became a psychologist initially to work with children and teens. I have through extensive training, clinical practice and as an NIH funded academic researcher focused my practice around working with children and their families. I am a generalist. I work with children, and teens within the systems they inhabit. This can include their parents, and often includes their school and friend environments- people that matter to children and affect how they cope, function and feel.

I am uniquely trained as a medical psychologist, a child and family psychologist and as a public health expert in healthcare and public policy. I have worked as both an NIH funded faculty academic researcher and practiced clinician. Each of these aspects of my training and experience are incorporated into your therapeutic journey. We will explore how culture and systems of oppression initiate, push and maintain your identity dilemmas and distress.
