About My Clients
I specialize in helping people with mood and trauma-related difficulties, work and life transitions, issues around loss and identity, as well relationship issues. I work with individuals from school-age to those in late life, on an individual basis, collaboratively with parents, and I work with couples, whether in or out of marriage. I recognize that these individuals are seeking to work through significant distress to achieve lasting personal change.
My Background and Approach
I received training/education at Harvard-teaching hospitals as well as universities in the U.S. and Europe. My approach is eclectic, yet draws on psychodynamic and relational techniques that help patients form insights into their struggles and problematic patterns, self regulate comfortably, and exercise their agency. Prior institutional affiliation: Children's Hospital Boston, Massachusetts Mental Health Center, Boston Psychoanalytic Institute, Austen Riggs, Dana Group Associates, the Fay School. University of Chicago, University of London, Tufts University, Simmons College, as well terms at Harvard University, Columbia University, and University of Rome.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My personal beliefs emphasize the importance of human agency and choice, whilst recognizing individuals' cultural and deeply personal values. The individual, couple or family's experience is critically important to understand well in order to support the exploration and growth that are sought.
