About My Clients
With over 25 years of academic and experiential training, Roderic Burks brings depth and attunement to his parts-based clinical work. Having studied at more than seven universities, earned multiple degrees, and completed advanced certifications in counseling psychology, mind-body medicine, and holistic health, he creates an intentional therapeutic space where protective and wounded parts are met with curiosity, compassion, and support for lasting integration and Self-leadership.
My Background and Approach
Mr. Burks graduated with honors from Adams State University with a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and earned a master’s degree in Clinical Management and Leadership from George Washington University. He also holds a master’s in Mind-Body Medicine from Saybrook University, where he was awarded a presidential scholarship. Additional studies at Maryland University of Integrative Health and the University of Santa Monica have deepened his expertise in Integrative Health, Wellness, and applied psychology. He completed doctoral training in Clinical Depth Psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute. With advanced training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), parts work, behavioral therapies, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), group therapy, depth psychology, and Positive Psychology, Mr. Burks offers a comprehensive, personalized, integrative parts-forward approach to therapy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I have trained under leading pioneers in clinical psychology and behavioral health, bringing more than 25 years of academic and clinical experience to my work. My approach integrates depth psychology, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Jungian-oriented psychotherapy and shadow work, attachment theory, Gestalt therapy, CBT, DBT, spiritually integrated (non-secular) psychology, positive psychology, and mind–body medicine. What makes this work distinctive is the thorough, intentional opportunity clients have to engage in deep parts analysis and meaningful parts integration. Together, we identify protective and wounded parts, understand their roles and histories, and support their reorganization around the Authentic Self. I view life’s challenges as an initiatory curriculum—guiding us toward greater coherence, peace, and embodiment. Within a grounded, relational space, we explore disturbances to your inner harmony and cultivate integration across body, mind, and spirit.
