We also discuss what to do with the thoughts, feelings, and memories you experience so that they don’t take control of you. And I also assist you in resolving how your emotions may have impacted your relationships with friends, family, and significant others so that you can have healthy, fulfilling, and long-lasting relationships.

We gather a history of your mood and its patterns. I assist you in establishing steady and stable routines, ultimately leading to a more balanced lifestyle, so that you can achieve your goals. Talk therapy is only one approach to treatment and for clients who would like to explore other forms, I am also versed in art therapy interventions.

In CBT, what we think, feel, and do is influenced by what happened to use earlier in our lives. Early experiences influence the development of beliefs about yourself, the world, and your future, which then affect how you perceive current situations. Techniques are used to examine and reduce unhelpful thoughts so that the individual can have new ways behaving outside of the sessions.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) focuses on dropping the struggle with life’s challenges, rather than attempting to eliminate or avoid thoughts and difficult feelings. Emphasis is placed on calling attention to difficult thoughts and feelings if it is useful, helpful, and can guide them toward effective action. Clients learn and practice mindfulness skills and strategies to live life in a way that reflects their values.

Cultural, ethnic, and racial identities of the client are explored with openness and curiosity. Discussion and processing of family systems can be included, such as the clients relationship with parents, siblings, and elders. The therapist offers a safe space to explore cultural identity and how this relates to the process of healing and well-being for the client.

I treat OCD with Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP). During the exposures, the I assist you with response prevention, which is resisting the urge to engage in compulsions. This is a crucial component of ERP because it helps to break the OCD cycle. Through this, the client gets experience sitting with distress and discomfort. I have the individual start with low distress level exposures, and overtime, will work up to more challenging exposures. Through ERP, you will live life more freely.
