About My Clients
I am most interested in working with lesbian couples. I understand the unique challenges to connection in queer relationships relative to trauma, heterosexist norms and lack of support. I am in a long term lesbian relationship and know first hand the many ups and downs of creating a lasting intimate connection.
My Background and Approach
I have been providing therapy to a wide range of people for 35+ years. I listen, I validate, I understand and I challenge clients to learn more about themselves, their issues in relationships and barriers to connection. I have extensive training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy and am a Certified Supervisor in this model. Together we explore, look art negative patterns, the ways in which trauma creates mistrust and challenges in relationships. I work with betrayals in intimate relationships using a repair model that can strengthen a relationship following a betrayal. I have a deep understanding of our human need for attachment and how this can go awry for many reasons. I form strong connections with my clients. They feel held and supported and challenged to grow.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a queer affirming therapist. I am married to a woman who I love dearly. I have a sweet cat named Buffy who I adopted during the pandemic. My other passion is creating art that empowers women.
