About My Clients
For 18 years, I have provided intensive therapeutic services to individuals and families impacted by chronic illness, disability, the child welfare system, complex social stressors, and trauma. I’ve been lucky in my career to get to work with a wide variety of people, from literally babies to people experiencing end-of-life issues.
My Background and Approach
I utilize psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral therapy strategies in my practice. I strive to make therapy a safe space and our work together will go at a pace you feel comfortable. Life can be really complicated and hard and it’s important that we take time to laugh even in our worst moments; whenever possible, I use humor in my practice.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I’ve always been interested in social justice and feminism. Social work was a natural fit because it encompasses these things. I also believe that having accessible quality mental health is ultimately a social justice issue and everyone should have access. Telehealth is helping more people receive care and that is amazing. I love watching people learn and grow. I love assessment, which is why I love clinical supervision. I love thinking about people and thinking about why they do the things they do and our internal workings. I love watching people gain insight although that is not the only path to change and personal growth.
