About My Clients
My clients are diverse, open minded, and ready to make positive change in their lives. They may be struggling with depression, identity, anxiety, adversity, or life transitions, and are committed to healing, growing, and becoming more whole as they discover, accept and bring forth their truest and most authentic selves.
My Background and Approach
I draw from many disciplines and personal life experience. My education includes a BFA from Colorado State University and teacher Ed from UCSD. I earned an MSW from the University of Utah in 2004. I completed a certificate program in Person Centered Expressive Arts Therapy and level 1 & 2 training in EMDR Therapy through EMDRIA. Since 2000, I have attended many professional trainings and workshops including LGBTQ, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), trauma, somatic/mindfulness based psychotherapy, and sexual assault crisis intervention training. I regularly attend conferences, professional trainings, seminars and ongoing peer consultation. I have been a therapists since 2003, Private Practice since 2006, Supervisor for MSW interns and CSWA's since 2008, Senior Therapist at a Rape Recovery Center 4.5 yrs, and outpatient adult substance abuse treatment. I draw on a varied and broad life experience.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that, with support, compassion and unconditional positive regard, people have the innate ability to heal from the past and thrive in the present. I also understand the impact of oppression, marginalization, social injustice and barriers to healthcare on lives of individuals and communities. I strive to address my own biases, participate in making positive change, and listen openly to the voices of those who have a very different experience from my own.
