About My Clients
My clients are from diverse backgrounds and have struggled with issues such as anxiety, depressed mood, trauma, and generally feeling overwhelmed and emotionally out of balance. They range from younger people who are feeling pressured in social situations, to an older person struggling with grief and loss. For all of them, I strive to create an environment of safety, non-judgment and compassion in order to make room for uncomfortable or overwhelming emotions.
My Background and Approach
I come from a background in community mental health, and have studied both psychology and social work extensively for many years. Past positions have included being a crisis center therapist, and then moving on to providing longer-term therapy. I started my own private practice three years ago, and enjoy assisting individuals who want to be heard, and regain a sense of emotional balance. My treatment approach is grounded in starting “where the client is” and I utilize a mix of therapeutic styles that focus on understanding your story, assisting you in specifying and setting goals that you want to achieve and helping you develop the tools to do so. I generally hold a humanistic view of therapy, and some of my preferred therapeutic models are Cognitive Therapy, ACT Therapy, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy.
