About My Clients
My clients often come from backgrounds where they feel misunderstood and invalidated. They can feel frustrated with their important relationships, or like they're stuck on an emotional roller coaster, or like they have trouble relaxing and feeling safe. In therapy, I create an accepting, non-judgmental environment where my clients can feel truly seen. From there, I help clients understand themselves, what they want to change in their lives, and how to reach their goals.
My Background and Approach
I first worked in mental health at a housing program for homeless people with severe mental illness. This job taught me a lot about fighting stigma and refusing to give up on people. During grad school and the time since then, I have worked in college counseling centers, an inpatient psychiatric hospital, a community clinic, and an outpatient program for college students who had recently been hospitalized. Along the way, I learned that I find working with trauma, borderline personality disorder, and the young adult age group very rewarding. I view every person as a unique individual. What helps one person the most might be different from what helps someone else. As an integrative therapist, I draw on different theories, research, and techniques to customize treatment for each patient. My style is both warm and direct; I want to make you feel understood, but I will also challenge you.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community. I am passionate about supporting the community, especially transgender and non-binary folks.
