About My Clients
I like working with people who are wrestling with their expectations - maybe things are just not how they thought it would be. My work with individuals and couples often centers around grieving and processing past traumas that continue to affect them, or on recent events that are impacting their ability to move on. I enjoy working with clients who have been hurt by societal expectations, or who are working through spiritual deconstruction.
My Background and Approach
The first thing I do with clients is listen and create a safe environment. I believe it’s important to name the experience, and feel the honest feelings that match that experience. I even love discussing why you might hesitate to name or feel these feelings, I think that’s part of the process! Simultaneously, I will help you identify the negative beliefs you are holding of yourself that may be cementing you in these negative experiences, and help you determine the perspectives and next steps you’d like to take. My approach is insight-oriented and based in attachment theory (how we related to our primary caregivers). I hope to raise awareness of the body, mind, and emotions, so you can find healing as a whole person. I use a trauma based therapy called EMDR to help your nervous system rewire itself to be free from fears/triggers, and I use IFS to help name complex parts of you that might seem to conflict with one another, helping untangle the way you see yourself.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe acceptance is one of the most importance things we can practice - acceptance of ourselves and of others. I believe that each person’s story is unique and diverse because of their culture, their upbringing, neurodivergence, sexuality, etc, and I want to meet you where you’re at. I am active on a meditation platform called Insight Timer, and am deepening my experience with meditation. I invest in news locally and abroad, and care about social justice and inequality issues.
