About My Clients
My passion is partnering with families to foster resilience and deep, lasting connection. In addition to family work, I welcome individual adult clients. For parents, I serve as an ally, empowering you to move from doubt and frustration to feel truly confident and attuned in your parenting. For children, I create a safe, playful space where therapy is an adventure.
My Background and Approach
Axis Mundi would like to present Riva Szostkowski. Riva is a Marriage and Family Therapist Trainee and is supervised weekly by Elysha Martinez LMFT #93493. The supervisor works with Riva to help develop their clinical skills and ensure that they provide quality care to you as the client. I take a relational approach to therapy, meaning that I believe that deep healing happens in connection: between therapist and client, with ourselves, our families and communities, and the natural world. I hold our time together as a space to write your own story and re-write your understanding of yourself and your place in the world. We engage in deep work (and play!) that addresses ingrained patterns, finding wisdom from the past so it may nourish the present. I like to take this outdoors when possible, so I offer ecotherapy in Berkeley and Oakland.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that we are all part of one ecosystem. We have smaller ecosystems as well-- our communities, families, relationships, and beyond. No person is a silo and none of our struggles exist in a vacuum. Just as difficulties arise within the context of your life, healing can also be found in many different places.
