About My Clients
I am fortunate to have a diverse practice that spans from late teens to seniors. I specialize in treating complex trauma, anxiety, depression, multicultural issues, spiritual/religious confusion, life transitions and crisis, relationship issues, and the LGBTQ+ community. I aim to help my clients harness their inherent sense of self-efficacy, access their internal wisdom and operate from their highest self, while cultivating realistic confidence, resiliency, and a sense of hope.
My Background and Approach
I help clients understand themselves through their formative experiences and relationships so that they can identify why they struggle with their presenting concerns and how to shed their unwanted, maladaptive mindsets, patterns, and behaviors. Our defenses are meant to attribute to our safety, but when they are in overdrive due to the adversity we've experienced, they can cause more suffering and contribute to our impasses. The situations that we go through can be just as complex as the people that we are, that’s why I attune myself to the specific needs of my clients in order for them to get the most useful support for their treatment, healing, and growth. In addition, I use Somatic and Internal Family Systems modalities to help my clients learn how to self-regulate and draw from their body's internal wisdom, which can lead to self-agency and healing.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone can benefit from a sacred space just for themselves. A place where one can put their worries of judgement and shame aside, and trust that the person on the receiving end not only takes an interest in understanding their internal world, but is actively seeking to identify their blindspots and assist them in finding an achievable path forward that challenges their current limitations. The bedrock of a safe therapeutic alliance is reflected in the therapist’s ability to meet you where you are at and speak to you in the language that makes sense to you. A catalyst for change to occur is when one experiences the wonders of having their barefaced self be seen, heard, and accepted. I provide culturally competent psychotherapy and aim to the bridge the gap between Western lenses and its limited understanding of multicultural dynamics.
