About My Clients
I specialize in providing therapy for people who are autistic, who identify as queer, transgender, or neurodivergent, and people who are questioning. Existing in a neurotypical, cishetero world, you might feel pressure to act a certain way or to dress a certain way. You might feel overwhelmed, depressed, anxious, or all of the above. It might feel hard to celebrate who you are or to feel pride or confidence. I work with people to explore these sorts of problems and to create room for joy.
My Background and Approach
In my work, I believe that you are not the problem, the problem is the problem. I also believe that you are the expert on your own life. Following these beliefs, I take a very collaborative approach to therapy that respects your knowledge and autonomy. Together, we will explore any problems that are getting in the way of the important parts of your life. We will also explore the knowledge and skills you already have that go against those problems, and explore other actions you might be able to take. My approach is also informed by social justice perspectives, and our work together may also involve reducing the influence of ableism, transphobia, queerphobia, or sexism. Ultimately, we will work together to coauthor a story that aligns with your knowledge, skills, and values.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a trans, queer, neurodivergent person. I have a commitment to educating myself about diverse groups and issues related to social justice. I take a firm stance against transphobia, sexism, homophobia, cissexism, islamophobia, racism, xenophobia, ableism, neurotypicality, colonialism and all other forms of marginalization against minority groups. I support the neuroqueer movement, the neurodiversity paradigm, the disability movement, the feminist movement, trans rights, workers rights and black lives matter.
