If you're feeling stuck and believe you may be suffering from the affects of trauma, depression and anxiety I can help! I am no stranger to mental health struggles and know intimately how it can feel like taking on Godzilla to do a once simple task or ask for help. I truly believe that with genuine curiosity, acknowledging the suffering of our past, patience, creative problem solving and commitment to the work, you can realize what you are capable of and live the life you envision.
My Background and Approach
Trauma can be more hurtful than anything that bleeds and leave an imprint on our nervous system. My therapy uses a bottom-up and top-down approach. Bottom-up refers to the unprocessed pain stored in the body and helping you relieve, tolerate, and integrate your body and mind. Top-down refers to identifying beliefs and behavior patterns that are no longer serving you and giving you the tools to make lasting change. And believe it or not, change can be fun! I believe in the power of an active listener who truly understands you and is committed to deepening that understanding. I believe laughter is an essential part of the therapy process. We'll go into the pain at your pace and find resources of calm and comfort. You'll gain an understanding of where things are, how you got there and what your goals are. I will be your committed ally that you can trust while you take the next steps.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
It's my belief that most of us have suffered from a trauma that has shaped us. Some of us were lucky enough grow from it and are not plagued by its effects. While others have discounted their trauma as as either not being "bad enough" to get proper help or too painful to heal on their own and thus continue to suffer from symptoms of anxiety and depression. I believe in our power to heal and I've seen it over and over. There is no one best path to healing but each individual has the capacity to change in a way that is unique to them. Lastly, I believe that judgment is where understanding ends. This is a judgment free zone, but I may poke light fun :)
