About My Clients
While I am a licensed clinical psychologist, I have also practiced as a litigation attorney and was a partner at a major law firm for many years. While I maintained an active law practice in commercial litigation, I have throughout my career been interested and involved in mental health issues. I am personally familiar with the stresses of the business world. My clients tend to be individuals coping with the stresses that arise in addressing work/life balance.
My Background and Approach
My background is as a cognitive-behavioral therapist, but I have experience in a broad range of approaches, ranging from psychodynamic therapy to Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I use the toolkit that best suits my clients' needs. I offer a safe and professional environment for you to explore the solutions that work best for you. Years ago I wrote an article: “Does Thinking Like a Lawyer Play a Role in the Legal Profession’s Mental Health Crisis” for the Michigan Bar Journal. I applied cognitive therapy concepts to the issues confronting attorneys. It was well received and I have since treated a number of professionals who are struggling with anxiety, depression and substance abuse.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
If you are experiencing addiction, depression or anxiety, I believe I can help you. If you are struggling with how to address challenges in your relationships or career, I would like to partner with you in attempting to find a way to lead a more hopeful, productive and fulfilling life. We all have been where you are now. If you give me the opportunity to help, I will do my best to show you alternative ways of addressing life's challenges.
