About My Clients
Are you always worrying about what others think about you? Spread so thin that you don't know how you'll muster up the strength to take on another day? Worrying about all possible worst case scenarios so you'll be prepared? I know exactly what you're feeling and none of the are sustainable long-term. These can be crippling but there is freedom from these issues with work and dedication. Some practices can help you achieve mastery over these. I look forward to working with you on these and more!
My Background and Approach
I've been practicing for the past 6 years and have worked in a variety of settings such as private practice and addiction treatment. I use an integrated approach of using EMDR, CBT, and DBT mainly but also sometimes pull from other modalities. I'm EMDR certified and am passionate about helping people improve their own view of self and empowering them to improve their communication with others to develop their own voice. My goal as a therapist is to counsel myself out of a job with clients by giving them all the tools needed to be successful while being a supportive resource for them whenever wanted or needed. I have a balance of being confrontational when needed but also compassionate to the struggles a client faces.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone is capable of great growth and breakthrough if they're willing to lean into discomfort and address difficult things. I think one of the main reasons that mental health issues develop such as anxiety or low self-esteem comes from partially defense and survival mechanisms as well as a struggle to figure out how we fit into this world. With there being so much comparison of self to others it can be difficult to stay grounded and confident in who we know we are versus being swayed and obsessed with wondering what other people think about us. What brought me into wanting to be a therapist is my own journey through grief and loss as well as my own past struggles with low self-esteem and anxiety. I find that I'm a confident person but am also aware that I will always be a work in progress and embrace continual growth as it comes. Feel free to reach out for any other questions or to see how I can help!
