About My Clients
Most people who find me are tired in a way sleep doesn't fix. You're functioning — work gets done, everyone's fed — but something underneath is running hot and won't shut off. Anxiety, old trauma, ADHD, the weight men are told to carry quietly. I work with adults, teens, couples, and parents who'd rather have someone honest than agreeable. You don't need a diagnosis or a crisis to come in. If you've been managing something alone a long time and you're ready to stop, that's enough to start.
My Background and Approach
I was a listener a long time before I was a counselor. Twenty years with teens, parents, and adults through nonprofits and education taught me most of what I know about people; the license came after. Therapy with me is a real conversation. I'll ask hard questions and I won't pretend to be neutral about what I see. But you set the pace, and nothing gets forced. Alongside talk therapy I offer two things that work below the level of words. LENS neurofeedback is a passive, drug-free approach for a nervous system stuck in overdrive — I'm certified through Ochs Labs at Level 2, which is uncommon in the Houston area. Brainspotting (Phase 1) uses where your eyes land to reach material talking hasn't been able to touch. Sessions are 50 minutes, in person in Spring-Klein or online anywhere in Texas.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I try to keep an honest view of my own place in this. I'm not the expert on your life — you are. My job is to bring attention, training, and a willingness to say the true thing when it would be easier not to. I believe most people are doing the best they can with a nervous system that learned its habits for good reasons. Shame rarely changes anything. Curiosity usually does. Outside the office I'm a husband and a dad, and I've spent enough years around teenagers to be kept from taking myself too seriously. What still holds my interest is the overlap between neuroscience and ordinary human care — it's why I've kept training in LENS and Brainspotting instead of settling into one method and calling it done.
