About My Clients
I work primarily with young adults struggling with issues related to trauma, identity, relationships, self-worth, shame, anxiety, depression, LGBTQ+ issues, life transitions, psychedelic integration, and spiritual or existential crises.
My Background and Approach
I received an MA in Professional Mental Health Counseling from Lewis and Clark College and began seeing clients in 2019. Prior to this I worked in community mental health facilities for six years providing care for adults with schizophrenia and at-risk youth. I currently work from my private practice, Art of Life Psychotherapy, providing in-person and telehealth sessions. My approach to therapy incorporates elements of existential-humanist therapy, gestalt therapy, somatic therapy, and psychodynamic therapy. The common thread of my work is a depth-oriented approach, meaning I aim to get to know and understand who my clients are as complex individuals and help them gain greater self and emotional awareness. I strive to create an environment that feels safe and supportive so that we may explore life's struggles together collaboratively.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that people inherently have the capacity for growth, change, self-reflection, and healing. I believe that the power of a strong therapeutic alliance can be invaluable in helping to facilitate those changes as I have been a client in therapy myself for a number of years and have felt its benefits firsthand. While suffering and adversity are unfortunate side effects of life as a human, I believe there is also transformative meaning to be found in our pain.
