About My Clients
My clients are generally individual adults who are struggling with life transitions, loss/grief, family/relationship issues, depression, anxiety, imposter syndrome, and self-esteem issues. About half my clients are Asian Americans, first or second generation, who struggle a lot with navigating the very unique space between our family of origin and our individualism. I love working with my community and being able to relate to my clients on that level.
My Background and Approach
I am a licensed marriage and family therapist and a certified grief counseling specialist with a master's in counseling psychology. I have experience providing individual therapy to those struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, self-esteem, grief/loss, and other life transitions. I've been privileged enough to work with a diverse population including young adults, adults, LGBTQ, children of immigrants, cross-cultural families, and bereaved clients. My own personal background as a first generation Asian American and my upbringing in Honolulu gives me a unique viewpoint to relate to my AAPI clients. I tailor my sessions according to the individual needs of each client and I believe that therapy should be warm, collaborative, and rewarding.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I have spent many years working in different non-profits and community centers and believe that therapy can be a tool for individual growth and social change. When I get clients to a place where they can sit with uncomfortable feelings and process them, they create more space for understanding others and compassion. I am in awe of my client's abilities to confront, process, and learn from their struggles daily.
