About My Clients
Is the word ‘therapy’ making you hit the brakes? If the very thought makes you cringe a little you’re not alone, and you’re exactly who I’d love to meet! Do you consider yourself a 'people pleaser'? Are you stuck in repetitive relationship patterns? Do you shut down or bend the truth to avoid conflict? Feel deficient or disappointed in yourself? Bottle up feelings until you explode? If so, we should connect! I help folks with relational and attachment trauma, and codependent behavior patterns.
My Background and Approach
I am a non-judgmental, patient, compassionate therapist. I deeply understand struggle and uncertainty, and I know how hard it is to change. I think our earliest experiences and relationships created the framework for how we operate in the world as adults. I help folks recognize the emotional resonance in their early stories to help break free of repetitive patterns that interfere with their current relationships and goals. I have training and experience in numerous therapeutic tools and approaches, and I work with clients to figure out what unique 'recipe' is most helpful for them. I offer a relatable and non-judgmental space to explore your innermost thoughts, experiences, and fears. Some of the most common issues I help people with are: emotional outbursts, negative self-talk, people pleasing and poor boundaries, feeling “not good enough”, relationship transitions, and substance misuse. I have a great deal of experience counseling members of the music and hospitality industry.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I operate through a lens of kindness, compassion, and unconditional positive regard. I believe that people are generally doing their best, and that change is hard, uncomfortable, and scary. With extensive training and a wide variety of personal and professional experiences, I've met a lot of people and heard a lot of stories, and none of them make someone unworthy of kindness and compassion. There isn't much that shocks me and nothing you say will cause me to think less of you. I respect everyone's individuality and do not discriminate against anyone I see. I work with clients over 23 years of age from all backgrounds, races, genders, and sexual preferences. I find inspiration personally and professionally in the works of Brené Brown, Kristin Neff, Thich Nhat Han, Gabor Maté, Laurel Parnell, and Pema Chödrön. I am a dog lover and an National Parks enthusiast. I enjoy gardening, hiking, riding my bike, and cooking. I try to spend my time around people and places that inspire me!
