About My Clients
I gained my experience as a counselor working in addiction fields, with college students, and in the private practice sector. I have benefitted from many training opportunities, including mindfulness, trauma recovery, and women’s empowerment. My experience in all of these counseling settings has enabled me to work with a diverse number of issues, including anxiety, depression, adult ADHD, addiction, trauma, life transitions/adjustments, and codependency (to name a few).
My Background and Approach
I obtained my BS in Psychology from Regent University and my MA in Professional Counseling from Liberty University. I strive to be the type of counselor that I feel would be most helpful for me. I value transparency and offer an atmosphere where clients feel free and safe to explore their own emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. I believe overcoming shame is foundational to helping clients make lasting changes. My approach to therapy combines the qualities of mindfulness, curiously observing in a nonjudgmental way, with other counseling techniques in an effort to provide quality care to my clients.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe the therapeutic relationship is one of the most important elements in the counseling process. So much of therapy is about finding your fit, and you need to feel comfortable and safe to engage in this work. I provide a nonjudgmental and empathetic approach that allows me to connect with and walk alongside my clients. Teletherapy sessions are relaxed and informal, and my clients appreciate my approachability and sincerity (and, sometimes, my humor)! The connections between humans in therapy have the greatest power to create change, and I'm honored to get to be a part of this process.
