About My Clients
You might find yourself often feeling overwhelmed and exhausted from overthinking, and want to learn and understand more of yourself in order to build self-esteem, self-trust, and worry less. You might be coming to terms with big changes, and how what you previously knew no longer fits who you are becoming. Instead of being told what to do and how to think, you are looking for someone to collaborate with you in making sense of your thoughts and reflections from your own unique perspective.
My Background and Approach
I have worked in the mental health field for over 10 years, supporting hundreds of people just like you find the motivation to make changes to improve the quality of their lives. My approach is casual and collaborative because I'd like for you to show up just as you are. Instead of telling you to "just think of it this way", our conversations will reflect and expand on the meaning of your personal story and unique experiences. By revisiting important details in your narrative, we will expose your strengths and motivation that empower you to actually make the changes which better fit your goals. Together we will reveal helpful elements that may have gone unnoticed in the story you have written about yourself so far. We will collaborate to come up with distinct solutions so you can reconnect with the people, values, strengths, cultures, relationships, and communities essential in living your narrative closer to what you are striving for.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Having managed my own depression and anxiety, I firmly believe people don't need to be fixed because people are not what is broken. Most of us just need a little guidance to see our own strengths and create our own solutions. I think of my role as supporting you instead of 'helping', because I believe that you are not helpless. One of my favorite quotes is "It is no measure of health to be well-adjusted to a profoundly sick society". My ultimate goal is to empower you to resist and find liberation from the oppressive systems that impact your sociocultural identities and mental wellness in your own unique way. I think people experience and sustain the most healing by reconnecting with their people, their relationships, and their communities. Outside of therapy I love representing my queer and Filipino community as a rock climber, plant daddy, recreational beach volleyball player, and amateur geek. If you want to learn more about how I can support you, shoot me a message!
