Anxiety can be beneficial in the right amount. It helps us protect ourselves, get things done, and even achieve success. Anxiety becomes a problem when it starts to impeded on your daily functioning and prevents you from living the life you want. The way you think can lead to how you feel. I use TEAM CBT developed by Dr. David Burns to help you feel heard and work with your thoughts to find relief.

PTSD can stem from one traumatic event or repeated smaller traumatic events. Symptoms of intrusive thoughts, over reactions to triggers and flashbacks can negatively impact our lives and our relationships. I use a combination of trauma informed approaches to help you process and heal from the trauma/s, provide psycho-education about how the brain works and help you develop strategies to better cope with the challenges you face.

I specialize in helping distressed couples who are not ready to give up on their relationship to find joy, trust and connection again using an integrated approach grounded in Emotionally Focus Therapy and Gottman Method. I help couples to understand and change their negative patterns, reduce conflict, gain insight, repair emotional injuries and learn healthy communication skills, so that they can feel safe and have a more fulfilling relationship.

EFT is a relational approach to couples therapy that integrates attachment theory to help couples rebuild trust and connection again. When our trust in a relationship is disrupted or not established in our childhood, our attempts to connect falls into negative patterns that creates conflict or distance. EFT helps couples understand and change their negative patterns and go deeper into their attachment needs for safety and closeness to create connection.

Gottman Method utilizes years of research on couples conducted by John Gottman, PhD, to learn what makes a relationship work. I will use strategies from this approach to help couples build a stronger foundation, to help them understand and positively change their interactions and help them learn effective communication skills so that they can reduce conflict and reconnect.
